How to make a summer table centrepiece, with a 60 second video

When you sit with your pen and paper and wonder what to make, flower wise, you need to think of a few things…

  1. What’s the style of the event e.g. if its a festival then it’s a relaxed style with lots of garden flowers and foliage , if it'‘s more classical and romantic then something more refined with less blousey foliage and more a curated deliberate look.

  2. Next it’s colour , if it’s a carnival, festival vibe then multicoloured flowers works very well or more romantic or formal then a more simple refined look with an analogous set of colours is a good romantic option. What do I mean my analogous, basically this , if the mood is happy and sunny then the colours may be orange and then you pick other colours either side of this so orange -red or orange- yellow on the colour spectrum . There is nothing hard or jarring to the eye.

  3. The container, is the final item. Vases are pricey and sometime you will only use them once for say a wedding, and you’ll need probably at least 10 of them. As an alternative I used cereal bowls and items from IKEA and supermarkets, you can get some great items here. For this arrangement I ordered a large glass vessel which came with 2 other different sized vessel for below £15 each ( for 3 vases )

Ingredients for this make ….

Per arrangment

3 peonies

3 sunflowers

5 yellow roses

3 orange spray roses

5 Briza Maximus

3 lilac Asters

leafy branches from my garden

3 snapdragons (orange-pink)

3-5 Tanacetum (diary like flower)

5 Nigella & Nepeta
